About this VPS


At the end of July 2026, €1.84 per month gets you a VPS pico G11s from netcup, the billing period is 12 months though. It’s no longer €1, but considering the RAMpocalypse, its not too terrible, and to my surprise, I found a few use cases (see below) which provide actual value to me. There a quite a few Linux (and BSD!) images available, and a custom one can be uploaded and installed manually.

Operating System

I replaced the default Debian 13 installation with FreeBSD 15, and so far, I really enjoy it. On my personal home server I use NixOS, so its quite the contrast in how things are done, but I enjoy the classic Unix way too.
